The Third Floor, Inc. in Los Angeles is seeking ambitious artists in Montreal who are looking for a golden opportunity to make their mark on the Entertainment Industry.
By using the language of cinematography and animation to design the strongest sequences, a Previs Artist holds a highly collaborative, impactful role in the film-making process. Previs moves fast, making an artistic sketch of the film to come, yielding an enormous boost to the enthusiasm of a project in development.

A SHOT CREATOR is responsible for piecing together elements, setting them in motion, and virtually filming them to create highly cinematic sequences. Nearly any aspect of a shot can be tweaked instantaneously to improve the composition or the timing of the action. Creating previs shots and sequences help to support the director’s vision via appropriate use of camera movement, lenses, composition, staging, lighting, and editing.

The ideal candidate will:

  • possess a strong sense of composition, animation timing, and basic storytelling.
  • be team oriented and able to take direction well from a supervisor
  • be adaptable, flexible and accepting of change, often tossing out ideas and starting anew.
  • have Knowledge of cinematic language and camera terminology

Software Utilized:
Maya
Adobe After Effects,
Motion Builder a plus

Also seeking ASSET BUILDERS, a special breed of 3D modelers. Assets are built quickly and must be highly optimized for real time workflow in Maya. An asset builder must be able to take artistic direction from a wide spectrum of sources to produce environments, props, & characters that best represent the director’s vision. The ideal asset builder candidate will have a strong sense of design and feel comfortable filling in the gaps of information to ensure each asset looks it’s best. Knowledge of real time OpenGL techniques for lighting and FX is a plus.

The ideal candidate will:

  • be team oriented and able to take direction well from a supervisor
  • be adaptable, flexible and accepting of change, often tossing out ideas and starting anew.
  • have a strong sense of design, and a knack for using real time elements to evoke cinematic lighting and depth.

not many people use maya around these parts, the only real good thing about maya is it’s rendering engine (which blender 2.6 can almost match), the rest is just junk compared to blender which is why we use blender here.

alot of people can do what you need done in blender. if you change your mind to use blender let me know as I can do what you need done.

as for photo editing, I can use photoshop and do for some features, but for most things it yields more professional image control options to use The GIMP.
