Prism Suite — A New Interface & Workflow System for Blender [Early Access Beta]

Hey everyone,

I’ve just released the Early Access Beta of Prism Suite, a Blender interface and workflow toolkit I’ve been building to make Blender faster to navigate, easier to customize, and less dependent on digging through menus and panels.

Prism isn’t intended to replace Blender’s tools. It sits on top of them as a coordinated interaction layer, bringing frequently used controls closer to where you’re actually working.

The suite currently includes 17 integrated components covering areas such as:

  • Customizable menus, tabs, and toolbars

  • Faster access to Properties and common controls

  • Modifier and Shape Key workflows

  • Timeline and Video Sequence Editor controls

  • Node Editor workflow improvements

  • Search and navigation tools

  • Workspace/interface customization

  • 135 included Blender themes

  • A unified system so the individual Prism components feel like parts of one interface rather than a pile of unrelated add-ons

One of my main goals with Prism has been reducing friction without forcing users into an entirely new way of using Blender. You can use as much or as little of the suite as you want and configure it around your existing workflow.

Why release it as a beta?

Prism has reached the point where I need feedback from people using it on different systems, displays, Blender configurations, and workflows—not just my own setup.

I’m especially interested in feedback on:

  • UI/UX and discoverability

  • DPI and display scaling

  • Multi-monitor setups

  • Different Blender workspaces

  • Compatibility with other add-ons

  • Features that feel unnecessary or are missing

  • Bugs and unexpected behavior

I’ll be actively developing the suite throughout the beta based on that feedback.

Early Access Price — $10

For a limited time, the full Prism Suite Beta is available on Superhive for $10.

The price will increase when Prism leaves beta, so the lower price is partly a thank-you to the people willing to jump in early, test it, report problems, and help shape where the suite goes next.

If you try it, I’d genuinely like to hear what works, what doesn’t, and what you think Prism should become.

Screenshots, bug reports, workflow suggestions, feature requests, and brutally specific UI complaints are all welcome. :slightly_smiling_face:

Looks really promising. Less menu digging is exactly what newer users need. Can users save and switch between custom workspace layouts per task (modeling vs. shading vs. animation), and do they persist across files? That would make it a must-have for me.

Thanks! That’s exactly the kind of workflow improvement I’m hoping to build with Overcoat (formerly Prism Suite)!

Overcoat already includes tools for making Blender’s interface easier to navigate and customize, including a workspace switcher and scene-specific workspace lists. The idea is to make it much easier to get to the tools and workspaces you actually need without constantly digging through menus or crowded interface elements.

For custom layouts, Overcoat currently builds on Blender’s native workspace system. You can create separate layouts for modeling, shading, animation, etc., and Blender saves those configurations within your .blend files. You can also include your preferred layouts in your startup file so they’re available when starting new projects.

What you’re describing—saving complete task-specific workspace presets and switching between them across different projects—is something I’d really like to expand on. A global preset system that could recall not just workspace arrangements but potentially relevant panels and tools would be a natural extension of what Overcoat is trying to accomplish.

I’m actively developing the beta, so feedback like this is especially valuable. Would you find it more useful to have a library of reusable workspace presets, or to have Overcoat automatically remember your preferred layout for each type of task?

Thanks again for checking it out!
