problem modeling high detail

Hey guys Trying hard to model the moldy crow (blend) and i got the rear wings/fins looking how i want but im having trouble with the sides

i got the panneling on the wings done nicely and i want to do roughly the same thing on the body. (mainly the nose) without totally ruining the topology. thoughts???

I would be trying my best to split the mesh up into separate sections as much as possible so I don’t have to worry about it. Duplicate pieces from the body and separate them. You can blend the seams in the texturing stage.

Nice job so far btw.

If you dont mind me asking how would you break it up? like into what sections???

and thanks for the kind words

After looking at images online, any panels that stick out could be separated, and sections of the nose, anything that doesn’t disrupt the flow of the recessed parts that circle around the body basically.

IMO, make one without detail >> make a copy of it >> put an edge loop wherever there is a recessed line in the drawing >> bevel those edges >> bake normals map from copy to original

Not too familiar with normal maps

a normals map is a type of texture that provides an illusion of surface detail where none actually exists. there are various tutorials on it if you google for " blender normals baking "

I got something done at work on lunch I might still scrap and go with the normal maps idea if I can figure that out lol. when I get home ill load it up and see what you think

let me know what you think???

got to work realized the link didn’t post
