Problem: Object on multiple layers?

Hello there! I’m having a problem with layers but I don’t know exactly what it is, it would be great if you guys could help.
Thing is a weird ass circle shows up in some of my renders. In the first render you can see those two circles in front of the wings. But in the first screenshot, on the same layer, there is no circle. In the second screenshot there’s a dot on the second layer. This tells us there’s an object on that layer no? But when I look at that layer there is no object. I’m guessing I’ve accidentally pressed something and an object is being “shared” or something, how can I undo this?

Thanks.

In the third image you can see from the header there is one object on the layer. Check the outliner for hidden objects

Alt+H and I found the SOB. Thanks.

Hi,
if you import meshes via collada or obj (mostly collada) one object lands on several layers, which makes it difficult to switch off this object.
solution: select the object which occupies more than one layer, press ‘m’ and select the target layer. then all of the object should be on one layer
if not: select all objects, press ctrl-j and join them, then move them to one layer with ‘m’
