so im practicing on how i was going to make this grip i wanted in a seperate blend. the curve is exaggerated here and it seems like im running into problems when it comes to rotating the peice or peices after i made the curve for one axis. ill try to explain in the picture below
If i understand well. But not sure about it. You want to do the same thing on y. So simply use array modifier.
And if you want to do it in a radial way, choose an empty object as reference object in array modifier and rotate it.
i cant use array and rotate as it only works for one curve. like i cant have an even horizontal and vertical curve. theres another example the top two are rotated on the y axis to create a vertical curve. the top right and bottom right are also rotated on the z axis for the horizontal curve but only the one on the bottom remains in line because it was never rotated on the y axis
what im doing is more exaggerated in this blend file but for the sake of knowing how to do something like that proper i wanted to learn how i could do it. in that picture especially on the back grip its bending vertically and horizontally but the spaces between each grip piece is all equal
ok for now im gonna upgrade my blender and hopefully i can open
i looked at your files guys im thankful for help and stan what you made there is actually pretty cool. however i wanted things to be uniform on 90 degree angles. like curves vertically and horizontally but each piece of the grip is the same size and overall you can line up the bottom with a ruler. for example stan on the select tool “b”, the bottom and top rows do not matchup. what skuax has is what ive been doing but as you see theres varrying spaces between each grip piece
heres a model that has it right but its a texture instead of model but it has what im trying to do. its on a vertical and horizontal curve but they all lay in 90 degree with each other
That’s impossible. When you’re bending on two axes something’s gotta give. On a subtle curve you’re unlikely to notice that, but either you’d have to squish the pieces (what the simple deform Bend does), shear them (they become parallelograms instead of rectangles), or shear+stretch them. The more you bend - the more the distortion: squish_or_shear_or_stretch.blend (352.0 KB)
haha ok sounds good thanks for help. squish example looks best to me. ill post my model when im complete if anyone wants to see im hoping i can make it look like the grip in the picture above
