Problem with flip fluids on slightly angled surfaces

Hello everyone,

I’m currently facing an issue with FLIP Fluids while working on a client project. I need to simulate water hitting a shower tray and then flowing down the drain. The challenge is that the tray has a very slight incline, which causes the water in the simulation to appear as if it’s moving down a set of steps, rather than flowing smoothly.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem or found a workaround for this kind of situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to your suggestions!

Best regards,
Diogo

I haven’t tried FLIP Fluids since it is a bit expensive but you could try increasing the size of the objects/scene or increasing the density of the geometry for the tray.

I’ve re-created this and i can say, its related to the resolution of the domain. The size of ‘steps’ are directly related to the size of the voxel for the simulation domain. But I suspect there must be a better way to fix this other than simply increasing the resolution.
