Problem with rigs and automatic weights

I’ve been trying to rig a model that I’d created but I am facing a lot of problems with rigging.
When I parent the default rigify meta-rig with my model it almost works perfectly but if I create myself a custom rig the automatic weights completely fail.

And yeah, I’ve applied the transformations, there are no doubles in the mesh, all the modifiers are applied (except the hair particles)

The objects in the scene are the head, the body and the armature

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated I’ve been stuck on this for days.

That looks way too high poly to use autoweights (or to armature deform, for that matter.) How many verts are there? Autoweights will fail when your mesh reaches a certain density.

Some other things to consider for autoweight failures are mesh problems (zero area faces, degenerate quads, etc) and, bizarrely, the world-scale of the model can lead to autoweight failure. I have best results when use a 1m = 10 units scale for weighting, and the recommended 1m = 1 unit can easily lead to autoweight failures.

80k is reasonable. I guess that’s a normal mapped lookdev render or something then? Glad scale worked for you.
