very interesting, at least compelled me to invest on learning Geometry Nodes in blender
regarding the second picture, i think you should fix the curvy look of some parts of the building (if it is possible with Nodes alone) since broken woods probably don’t bend that way I guess

Is this something that will be an addon for sale on the BM? Even at a higher price point, this will sell through very well. If you do a tut, as you said, this is probably a good 2 hours worth of info. Break it into a series and solve 1 node solution per episode.
I’m more than willing to sit through whatever length of time it takes to understand what you have done here. This is one of the best node solutions I have seen to date, and more than useful in many different instances.
In reverse, what if this was a random new house builder, room generator, furniture, etc. A gabled roof house builder, flat roof builder, etc. Anyway, learning how you did this, I can already think of at least a dozen builder kits that would really speed up environment building.
Can’t wait to see what’s next.

It was an exercise for me to learn, and If I had to start over again I probably simplify things a lot with a clearer idea of how to build it… In a few words it’s a good old mess ![]()
In the mean time, I’m starting another project and I’m reusing and improving some nodegroups that I made before, and it fits better the general use that we can make with geometry nodes.
Eventually I’ll see how to share at least a part of all this because it can probably be useful to other people that want to start using geometry nodes as well.
As you’ve guess if I had to go through all the steps involved in making the house it will end up in hours of videos
But it’s possible to simplify it a bit and go to the most essential.
Here is a screenshot of what I’m working on :
It mixes regular and procedural modeling, and I think it’s the way to go rather than over doing things with nodes.
The idea is to use simple geometry ( the colored ones) that are mapped into a basemesh (like with the house) , then extract some part based on materials, and instance props, do some procedural modeling and randomization from there.
I’ll probably start a thread here on BA and share some progress and ideas, that can be a start before going further and do videos, providing files etc…
Apart from the great final result of the model itself, I really enjoyed that presentation as well—gives an easy overall idea of the process without overwhelming (or giving away all the secrets). Really well done, congrats! Looking forward to your next one.
Yes! This is fantastic and thank you for sharing this part. The modeling, ugh, I think if you did a demo do it only on the nodes with prebaked meshes so you aren’t also doing a modeling tut.
And yes, starting a progress thread with some updates would be very inspirational. There are so many accidents waiting to be tools, part of the hidden fun of exploration.
Thank you for sharing these images here. I can already see what this can do, and I am very excited to see the complex looking end results when you have polished this up. I really want to see how you combined the nodes to create the destruction on those houses. That was a brilliant combination, and just like all the physics sims in this program, just watching houses building up and reducing to rubble is more than satisfying.
