Procedural smoke test

Hello! I am currently experimenting on the procedural smoke tutorial.so far it was looking great until at the end of the smoke.

i was wondering are there any methods to make the smoke dissappear without playing with tranparency material?

I think you may need more than this but the mask modifier with hide parts of the mesh.

How about a boolean?

You can play around with the shape of the mesh to fade the smoke in and out in different places.

Also, you could use shape keys to blend between two torus shapes, as long as they have the same topology.
