Project: S.N.I.T.C.H.

Did another quick little project that I have decide with eventually lead to an animation. The name of the robot in the render is S.N.I.T.C.H. which stands for System Network Intelligence Transfer Communication Hardware. Basically it is a satellite that resides in the upper atmosphere of gas giants like Jupiter. It’s purpose is to receive and transmit signals from colonies on planet that reside both inside and outside the asteroid belt. They allow clear signals to be transmitted over a wider range. The wings are made up of an unknown material that absorbs the heat from the atmosphere and use it to power the main systems. Beside of the high winds and jet streams on the gas giants, S.N.I.T.C.H.es don’t need to waste energy keeping themselves in the atmosphere.

I know it’s weird but I was bored and wanted to practice in Blender.

Here are the renders:

Some special S.N.I.T.C.H.es that are used to monitor the planet they inhabit have the ability to dive at tremendous speeds. These models are called R. S.N.I.T.C.H. or Research System Network Intelligence Transfer Communication Hardware.

Anyway, there are some problems that I careless made, I know bad Nathan :ba:, which I know how to fix. The main one I see is the weird reflection on the medal borderings and on the rudders.

So what do you think?

Edit:

Forgot to mention that the project’s name, S.N.I.T.C.H., was inspired by the little golden ball in the Harry Potter series called the Golden Snitch. Reasoning for this is simple, the S.N.I.T.C.H. is a relatively small, about maybe a foot in diameter for the sphere, and is quick.

Well I worked a bit of clouds in and they came out pretty good, although still could use some work. Also don’t mind the flaws on the S.N.I.T.C.H., I wasn’t working on them for this render:

Also, I have another image being rendered right now so I post it later.

Edit:

How do I make the particles interact with the model? I thought I would have to use a field on the model but it doesn’t seem to work. Do I have to use the collision in the physics tab?

#1 Very good model. Nice balance between detail and quality.

#2 Nice concept. Somewhat sci-fi but still believable. The concept reminds me somewhat of Halo.

20 thumbs up from me man!

good job. :). I waas thinking of getting some hoverbots done myself. Maybe we should start a collection. lol

Thanks you guys.

Models been fixed still a few more little quirks to work out, particularly in the lens where you can see the bordering. Also seems as though I messed up the lighting a little but no prob, I’ll just go back and fix that up.

I am also rethinking how I am going to do the particle system.

You could model the clouds.

The Snitch looks good.

Thanks for the tip Excalaberr, it turned out great. I did add a wave effect so that when I make the animation the cloud will change shape.

Okay so this is the final render for now. What do you think, is there anything else I need to fix?
