Question about changing Views (Front, Side, etc.) via NumPad on MacBook Pro

Hey all,

So I recently downloaded Blender in my quest to learn more about computer animation, and I was watching these tutorials: http://cgcookie.com/blender/get-started-with-blender/

In the 2nd tutorial, it mentions using the ‘7’, ‘1’, among other digits on the numpad to jump to Front View, or Side View. On the old MacBook Pros, this could be toggled by doing Fn + J/K/L/others, but it seems they have removed this functionality on the newer models. Does anyone know how to reconfigure the Controls, or circumvent this on a MacBook Pro (without downloading any additional software)?

Thanks!
