was it totallydone in C, or a bit of python, c and c++.

To the best of my knowledge the original series was programmed in C.
But the newest version (2.26) has been redone in C++.
Correct me if im wrong.

Just adding something: there is Python code in the final binary as well, so it’s involved somehow. Not only as far as the API concerns, but also some of the export functions.
most of blender was written in c, some new additions are in c++ as is the gameengine (afaik)
