Quickpaints

3 sketches in 20 minutes. I thought I would get some practice while I was still here. I’m probably going to work on a large scale paint project fairly soon. I’ve already got many ideas on where to start. Anyways, without further adu, I give you three paintings hot out of the oven.

What app are you painting in? It looks like youre using square brushes with like 15% spacing, hence the ugly outlines. Either use round brushes(recommended), or get the spacing down to 0%.

Just as a heads up, Id recommend speedpainting instead of ‘projects’ just because its a better way to get a handle on colors, theory, and perspective. Theres a certain beauty to a well done speedpaint, and its a fantastic way to learn.

I’m painting in GIMP. The reason why the outlines look ugly is because I painted with the pencil tool at a low resolution. I was trying to get a quick caricature, not really any speed paint. It was more character design practice.

I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll do some speed paints instead of a project.

Here’s a cake that I just finished. I was messing around with shading and lighting mainly. Sorry, I don’t really want crits. It was a speedpaint that was literally done in less than 5 minutes.

Cool You draw nice quickly

Quick translation for y’all:

Sorry, I don’t really want crits = Tell me Im wonderful.

Give me a break Nick.

Sorry, I don’t really want crits = Tell me Im wonderful.

Exactly  haha no.

Well, you can say all you want about it, I simply meant that I wasn’t going to change the picture itself because it was merely a test.

Well, it’s nice to have people critique you so you can fix things in other projects. Sorry if I’m not making any sense here, I’m pretty tired right now…

Well, it’s not worth crits really. It’s really almost like I placed it there for storage reasons. So, sorry if I offended anybody (by drawing a cake?) lol. Anyways, here is something more crit worthy. It took about 20 minutes. I haven’t had time lately to work on anything. I’ve just been dropping comments here randomly throughout the days.

Edit: Here’s a landscape I did. Took about an hour and a half. This was mainly another light test, but I was also working on my composition.
