Re-use particle and smoke animation

I aim to make an explosion animation with smoke, particles and a texture for the scorch mark.
Is an animation like this possible to duplicate and then just move the starting point of it, in order to have several explosions in the same animation? What would be the best method?

I think I know at least how to animate one instance/event of this by key-framing emissions and velocities, and for the texture I guess I can always key-frame the alpha to blend it in.
