I would like to know if it’s possible to make a real time camera monitor in Blender; I’ve seen topics about this already but they’re a decade old at that point, so not really useful. I wonder if the newer version of blender could allow for something like that? [lexus-es-digital-outer-mirror] I’d …

You can with the script in the link above. Have a look. Ive tried it, commented on it, and it works! https://twitter.com/kolupsy/status/1525811584718741505

Hi, You mean something like this? https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/211393/how-to-make-a-texture-from-the-view-of-the-camera-live-cycles

Have a look at this thread, [image] Live Scene Capture to Texture Blender and CG Discussions LIVE SCENE CAPTURE → IMAGE TEXTURE Lets talk abour rendering your scene in realtime and outputting the result into a texture. This is a common technique used in games for portal …

I don’t think there’s a feature that lets you create a render within a render. Do you mean like one camera in the scene is rendering the rear view of the car and automatically sending it to the texture of the camera monitor inside the car? I don’t think Blender can do that. Real-time stuff like this…

Really cool! Still seems to need some work though. Disappointing that doesn’t work with Cycles. Also performance issues since Blender is not really made for this. I would think Unreal has some more ideal version of this feature developed.

Thanks for the replies! That script is definitely what I was looking for, it never came up in my search results. I’ll give it a try as soon as I can.

Of course for a “realistic” renderer someone may even use a mirroring surface to compute the actual mirror effect… …or use a second scene with a backwards looking camera and compose this… maybe also using the famous OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR overlay text and of course some dirt…

Hey! I’m reviving this topic as the Ray Portal node is a thing which should get me where I want this time. The script mentionned above was interesting but only works in EEVEE. For Cycles, I have some issues still (i.e I know nothing about vector math nodes). Here’s an example of what I achieved so f…

You should start a new subject to get answers really.

You’re right, it’s a different approach and you did provide a solution at the time, I’ll do a topic focused on the Portal node then.

Cool, see you there, (Ive played with ray portal a little) You can link it to this post by refering to this post.
