Really old camera

First look of old camera wip.

Small update. The handle was surprisingly difficult for me:)

What is causing that ugly dark line? I tried to remove doubles, recalculate normals. Nothing. Strange that on previous picture it does not appear.

My best guess is a face inside the mesh, but it almost looks like you have two meshes overlapping. I’d try moving verts a bit to see if you have doubles that aren’t close enough to be removed as doubles.

Thanks for the help, got that fixed. Little advancing too.

a lot of details … good job… now texturing …

Adding details…

And some more details… And lots of more to do…

at first it looked very crappy, but now seems awesome!, good job with that modeling

And some more details, and more to come

Some details more. I like the kind of steampunkish look of old cameras. Taking shape already. Wonder if 30.000 verts is too much for this at this point?

Only if it’s for a game or any other realtime application. If it’s for a still render, there’s really no limit to your geometry budget*. It’ll only take a bit longer to render.

*Depends on your hardware, but you can likely go several million polygons before it starts to slow down enough to be a problem.

I think its almost ready for materials

try to do it in cycles should look better!

nice going

happy 2.6

The last one is rendered in Cycles without materials and 350 passes (2.6 by the way)

I decided to add some more stuff, maybe later whole scene.

the wood texture on legs is following the lenght which i don’t think is realist !
only from close shot which i guess is what you don’t want here !

but still looking good
