reclac normals doesn't work sometimes

hey all,

sometimes when Im working, and i set an object o smooth, i get those funky lines that indicate that i need to do a ctrl-n in edit mode with all verts seleted.

well when i press ctrl-n, its fixed, but another one of the weird black lines appears somewhere else in the object. when i recalc again, it goes back to the normal position it was in.

how do you correctly recaculate the recaculated normals to make the object look nice and spiffy smooth again?


This means you have an interior face somewhere and blender can’t whats inside and outside. Do a select -> non-manifold to locate the problem and delete the interior face(s).
