Recreate Sintel Well in Cycles

As I need a well for my project I decided to use the one from the Durian project:



I think I can do better on the texturing of the wood, but I am stomped at the setup for the stone material. However as I would like to render the well in Cycles understanding the original node setup is not strictly necessary. As I see it the material is somewhat angle based: horizontal faces are smoother. How would I go about setting something like this up in Cycles?
