Thanks,
@bahamapascal - Making it to the gallery some day would be epic:)
Hey guys, I dont mean to bump this post but I have a question. Can anyone tell me how a submitted render gets the 5 stars? Is it based on views or is there some way to rate submissions?
Anyway thanks for viewing and happy blending:)
Hi Derek, if one hits Reply - Go Advanced and scrolls down and hits “Rate Thread” they can rate outta 5*
I will do so now
Thanks RossBlenderArt for the clarification…I figured there was something I was missing:)
wow that looks great, but i have to ask this, thats 150 MILLION faces right? what kind of computer do you have that can do that in 20 minutes
ive been waiting about 20 bloody minutes just for my car showroom (about 10,000 faces) to render :L
brilliant job btw
Awsome…
How many trees in that scene…??
Thanks guys…it great to see people are still enjoying Red Lake it was one of my favorites:)
The computer I have is a 64 bit Dell XPS sooped up model. Dual nvidia video cards, Intel® Core™ i7 processor, 8 gigs ram…its a huge B@#$! & sounds like a jet when I turn it on:) Its my work computer we use it for archviz type stuff and conceptual building animations. I just got a dual screen HP Quad core with 8 gigs ram at home, the video card needs to be upgraded…its the bottom end nvidia…but it keeps up pretty good with the speed of my work computer.
I got my home computer to do 1.4 billion faces:eek: on a different landscape scene. It didnt look so great however, I didnt finish that one, mybe I’ll revisit someday.
The RED LAKE scene was I think like 2500 trees plus the surface and shrubs/flowers/grass. It was definetly a beast to work with.
The key is Blenders ability to do instancing on the same object, so if you create a group of say trees and then use that group in a particle system you’ll be able to do many more faces then you think. Give it a try!
Happy Blending!
Five stars from me. Very beautiful work. It’s funny that the rating system is now hidden in “Go Advanced”.
Thanks 3dmedieval:) as always I appreciate your opinion!
wow, thats a beast of a computer, atm im running a 64bit 2.4GHz dual core with 4GBs ram and 1GB graphix, but im upgrading to a 3.7GHz quad core with 6Gbs ram and 2GB top end ATI GFX card, so that should be able to haldle rendering alot faster.
and cheers for the tip, i’ll have to look into instances some more
Thanks Marius for the tip, I’ll give it a try…its alwys fun to see this render come back up…it is still one of my favorite completed projects:)
Happy Blending!

So you have to reply in order to rate the thread? I guess so. 5 stars.
Nope, you don’t have to. You have an option to rate the thread in the upper right corner, just below the page index
Great job, Derek, as always
Thanks Guys…I’m glade people are still enjoying it:)
