Remote Contract: Design 3D Firework Simulations (no Blender skills required)

This is a unique remote opportunity, not your traditional 3D modeling or asset creation job. We’re a small company developing a custom web-based 3D fireworks simulator, powered by an in-house physics and rendering engine. The end product allows users to choreograph realistic virtual firework displays. We’re looking to hire a part-time remote designer to build new virtual fireworks based on real-world video footage.

No Blender or traditional 3D experience needed! We’ll fully train you to use our custom in-house tool. You’ll review real firework videos closely, focusing on timing, visual details, and overall choreography, and then translate that understanding into 3D simulations. Our physics engine handles the heavy lifting; your job is guiding and tuning the simulation visually.

What’s cool about this job:

  • Fully remote, 20–30+ hours/week, flexible schedule.

  • $20/hr to start, with increases available as you build skill and consistency.

  • Full paid training provided, no existing knowledge required beyond a keen eye for detail and willingness to learn.

  • You’ll gain niche domain knowledge about real fireworks that will forever change how you see and appreciate firework shows.

This job is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, loves tinkering, and is fascinated by physics/art/technology. After an initial paid trial and training period, we’re ideally looking to sign someone on a 1-year contract to hone their skills and work independently.

We’ve received a lot of strong submissions, and the process has been quite competitive. At this point we’ve moved forward with a small group of top candidates, and are no longer looking to expand the pool further.

Thanks for all who reached out! It’s a great community here.
