Remove texture in texture paint

I have used texture paint to paint a rust texture on my mesh. When i discover paint at undesired places i try to set the blend mode of the brush to subtract. The issue is that this doesnt only remove the painted texture, but also leaves marks where there was no painting done.

So my question is how to remove texture that has been painted on with texture paint mode,
I know i can ctrl-z, but this is after the file have been saved and closed so there is no undo steps available.

Have you try to recover the backup files on the temp directory?
Maybe you have some files previous to that modification.

Hopefully you have some.

I havent tried that but i will certanly check it out. When that is said, i stil want to find a solution for erasing if there is one.

Somewhere in the shading tab you should find the painted texture. Select it and go to paint tab to correct it.

Basicly, i am already at that point. You say “correct it”, thats what i am trying to figure out how to do.

The selected texture is the paint texture. You always can edit it or simply delete it and create a new one. To do this, jump back into texture paint mode.

I was provided with a solution that involves using the “erase alpha” mode of the brush. Is this what you mean when you say edit?
