OK so I got a new system76 ubuntu 11.10 based laptop. I figured it would be killer ready for my blender project. Blender is painfully slow and the the render locks up. What the heck is going on? Is it my system or blender 2.5? Admittedly the render is huge rgba png 3000x5900 pixels. It’s for a to be printed poster. My puny HP laptop can at least not lock up on it. But it takes 48 hours to render! I’d like to use my new system. Where do I start trouble shooting this?
