Does someone know how to create high quality water in GE?
Heh, heh, not as far as I know. In case you didn’t see it, there’s a fairly recent thread on this in the ‘resources’ section.
It’s hard enough just to get a nice ‘normal’ rendering of water, much less reproduce it in the GE. It can be done, but it would eat up frame-rates so bad it wouldn’t be worth it, in many cases.
It all depends on what kind of ‘high quality’ water you want and what kind of game you’re making. “Water” has a wide-range of definitions in CG.
Hrm. . . I don’t know about render quality, but I have been thinking about Super Mario Galaxy-quality water (If you’ve played the game, you know how good the water seemed). If you use reflection mapping and transparent planes / objects, as well as armatures to move the water about, then you can have some great water, I think.
