Hi there admins / users (I am going to mention @joseph and @bartv to get an admin’s attention on this.)
I just posted a reply to the thread Grass animation - 3D Environments course - #2, the message I got from system says it is spam and advertising, I am not sure how this happened since I was just complimenting the user on there work and asking a question about the animation. Is it possible for this post to be unflagged and made public again, it says in 10 minutes I can edit it, although to my knowledge it doesn’t violate any rules so I am not sure what to edit.
Not sure why this could be happening @Linux404, I don’t know what the post says so it might be a false positive, have you tried private messaging an admin or @bartv (@joseph, @Fweeb, and @Metin_Seven).
I did try this but I don’t have access to the private message function due to my trust level.
Yes, you account is relatively new so if you don’t use it much you may still be on a trust level that doesn’t support private messaging.
You’re but the latest victim of the pedantic evils of the forum robot. Don’t take it personally. Every person here has felt the sting of it’s stupidity at least once.
Thank you for this, wasn’t sure if it was something I wrote, I am not going to mark this as resolved since the post is still showing as this post has been flagged in the thread. I think an admin may need to solve this, would editing it help or not?
It wasn’t so much what you wrote, as much as it was a single word or link that just happened to set it off. If I had to take a guess, I’d say that being a new poster making a link to an external site made it’s spam alarm go off.
When I get hit by it, I usually just delete my post, and start fresh with less bad words. Depending on what you’re doing though, it might be best to ask a moderator for help. They’re usually pretty active around now, so you probably won’t have to wait too long for them to get back to you.
…though you can’t PM due to your trust level, so I’ll do what Withers did above and @joseph @Fweeb @Metin_Seven.
Great thanks for mentioning the moderators, I didn’t link to anything I basically just said nice work how did you do this specific part of it, so not really sure what went wrong. Hopefully a moderator sees it soon and sorts it out.
Note that you can always just DM a moderator and ask the question.
Sometimes, it can be some keyword with a double meaning. I got into a conversation about cloth simulations where every post was getting flagged. It turned out to be because we were talking about ri-pping cloth. The forum will auto-flag that word, I guess because it’s related to piracy.
It’s pretty arbitrary. The intention is for it to automatically filter out bot spam and advert junk, but it can be a little overzealous at times. I seem to trigger it at least once a month.
…whether that’s a problem with the forum robot or me personally is entirely up for debate.
Thank you @thorn, I previously did not have a high enough trust level to DM but it now appears I do, I tried about 10 minutes ago and had no button, but now I seem to.
Should’ve said bodice tearing.
It was flagged because you and @Withers99 have the same IP address. Looking at it, I assume you’re using the same VPN provider. I unflagged it
Thank you, yes I do use a VPN so that is likely the case, if I am not using a VPN I am on BT and they do use CGNAT so that also might be the issue.
Definitely the bot.
I’m thinking the same thing. Things are almost never my fault. I’m nearly perfect!
