[Request] Help with structuring a game

Hello all,

After a short period of out time due to work and relocating I am now finally settled again,
Work is coming along nicely on my little 3d rougelike however, so far all my levels/items/players etc are all in one blend file.

I would like to know the best way of setting up the BGE to function as a game, as in, how do I organise my project so I can have one central blend file that imports the objects into the “game world” as and when they are needed.

Has anyone found a good way to do this, or am I missing something here.
I really don’t enjoy having unruly blend files.
