Rig Vincent - IK / FK solutions and toggles

Hello!

I’m playing around with the amazing rig (Vincent) that can be had for free over at Blender Cloud. What a beautiful collaboration between three gents. The quality and depth of this character and rig is inspiring.

I’m making some good headway, and feeling things out (I have installed Blendkit 5 for Blender 2.83)

My problem: I can’t seem to lock the hero hands down to the bar surface when I roll his shoulders back. I see a bunch of IK tweaks and numbers on the right here, but nothing I do locks the hands to the bar. I don’t want to have to counter-animate anything, and it’s looks odd if I do.

Can someone briefly explain how in Blendkit 5 (or without it) I can lock the hands to the bar surface. I thought I would be able to toggle to FK or something, but I’ve never character animated in Blender, so I’m not sure.

I’ve watch tutorials for this involving the older Blendkit on 2.79, but the newest version for 2.8+ has a completely different UI and setup.

Thanks so much in advance!

This is just a test animation to showcase the hand issue. Here you see I’ve counter-animated the hand (very roughly) to stay in the same location when Vincent takes a deep breath. If I didn’t counter-animated, the hands lift completely up off the bar about a foot or so.

By the way–is it relatively easy to mo-cap this kind of rig? Is Vincent in all his glory set up to receive mocap info?

Lastly, along the same lines, can I import a Miximo animation to plop into Vincent’s rig?

Thanks again.
