hey I did some animation in blender in the past and I wanted to get back into it but I can’t find a nice rigged model online that I’d 1) be passionate enough to animate and 2) it run smooth on my low spec computer.
I remember doing this course https://www.p2design-academy.com/p/alive-animation-course-in-blender and the models/rigs in it were so so well made and ran incredibly smooth on my PC and the control points felt really good to animate with, it really felt professional. I wish I could find something like that with a character I want to animate but all I can find is rigify models (idk if rigify is bad or causes the issue) which run painfully slow when being manipulated. anyone know where I could find nice model rigs like the ones in that course?
If you have a model that you want to animate, link it, maybe I’ll rig it for free (depends on the model-- mostly, how appropriate it is for animation). Perfectly happy to work with you to create the rig that you want to use.
Usually, performance is almost entirely a function of vertex count. If there’s a rigged model that has decent performance for you, but doesn’t excite you, then that makes a good upper boundary for performant vertex counts, for models that may excite you.
(I haven’t been doing much with Blender beyond just helping people online lately, kinda disappointed in my own art, so helping somebody else with something seems perfectly reasonable to me right now.)
Both are low poly enough that they can playback animation in the 3d viewport at 24fps on a low spec machine. I know because I’m on a low spec machine right now.
Yeah, just like what have been pointed out by others, it very much depends on what you find passionate about. Not to forget the matter of style as well. And actually, if you like the spiderman-like character that Pierrick used in that course, why don’t you just it instead?
@joseph Hey, thanks for tagging. If the Toby Rig is what you meant, then yes, it is. Fortunately, @MichaelColina is quicker than I am to come up with the link. Description wise, it’s still lacking though.
@revolt_randy Lol, this one made my day. I can explain. @MichaelColina and I shared a Discord server, and I published the rig over there. So, that’s why.
The Serena rig is one of the best in my opinion for blender animators! Really high quality looking rig and plenty of controls to animate whatever! Works in 4.0+ blender and blender 3.6 and below. One of the best rigs produced for blender
