Rigging Shoulder Deforms ( Help )


I need some help with a character I am working on.

The shoulder of the model deforms when her hand is raised. Is there any solution to fix this or are my bones done wrongly ?

Ideally when i move the IK controller at the hand upwards. The shoulder would go up a little naturally.

Any help would be appreciated.

You could easily use drivers to control the shoulder based on the angle of the upper arm. Or you could just animate the should bones like anyone else :stuck_out_tongue:

could you explain more on how i can use drivers ? also is there a better way to fix the problem instead of adjusting the shoulder bone every key frame ?

There are plenty of tutorials on youtube explaining drivers better than i ever could. Basically you apply a driver on the rotation channel that determine the height of the shoulder based on the rotation of the upper arm. It’s not that hard. Personally a dont like auto clavicle rigs and prefer to animate the shoulder manually for better control.
