I’m trying to rig a game character with rigify and it keeps giving me a “cannot connect chain bone” error for spine.003? The character in question I’ve combined parts of the animal rig “cat” with Basic metarig human. But the bones that are being flagged are from the human part of the rig with only the large head/face bones and tail being from the cat itself.
I’ve tried having the bones connected and “kept offset” but are virtually occupying the same space both scale 0 to line up but the error keeps appearing. Would anyone please be able to take a look at the rig and help fix it up? I’ve usually manually made rigs but with very limited features and want to speed up the process wherever I can just don’t know Rigify that well to troubleshoot.
Hi and welcome, The reason for the error is not necessarily from that bone.
Rigify sends this message when something in the original meta rig had been drastically changed or moved/altered.
What i did to test this was; I have deleted all the face bones and tail and then the generated rig was working.
See image:
I’ve gotten the tail working but the face is still giving me hassles… “RIGIFY ERROR: Bone ‘brow.B.L.004’: Input to rig type must be a chain of 2 or more bones.
Incorrect armature for type ‘stretchy_chain’”
I would not recommend this. There is just so much that can go wrong when you don’t understand what is actually happening. Learn about the Rig Types and Samples.
I am pretty sure through trial and error and other peoples suggesstions from another forum, I got it working but i’ll definitely have a look over the video. Only thing my rig seems to be missing is the control shape for the top of the head. I have updated the GDrive file if you wouldn’t mind having a look to see if it’s looking good or if there is still something wrong.
