This is Robby the Robot from the 1956 film Forbidden Planet. I think this fella is responsible for my life long love of science fiction stories. I saw the film for the first time many years ago when I was much younger and was totally enthralled by the story, acting and special effects of the time. It’s amazing how good this film still looks considering it’s almost seventy years old.
Oh, and that monster from the ID. It’s unseen for the most part and that’s what makes it so truly scary.
Love the movie and this is Well Done!
Beautiful! I love how you put him in the power usage viewing room.
Loved that movie. (Still do!) Funny, how likable Robby is, but if I reflect on it, it is because my brain knows full-well it’s a guy lumbering around in a robot suit.
Were there to be an actual Robby the robot, when that thing started moving it would be scary as hell to be around.
Thank you.
Awesome!!! love it.
Thanks.
Yeah, a real Robby would be a scary thing, but at least he’s programmed not to hurt humans, at least in the film he is, in reality, that could be a different matter.
Thanks, it’s much appreciated.
Wonderful job on my favorite robot!
Forbidden Planet is the greatest SF movie of the 50s; and the urtext for Star Trek.
I love the part where Morbius instructs Robby to stop the Id monster, and we see him react as he does when he is given an order to harm a human being. Even Robby can see what the brilliant Doctor cannot.
Thanks.
That scene with Robby and the id monster is so clever.
It’s such a well thought out and well written script, I think this is why the film has survived the passage of time.
I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
Thank you, it’s much appreciated.
Cool work, a faithful recreation of this classic robot.
Thank you.
