Well, you know me, retro gamer to the core. Here’s another old school adventure game hero, Roger Wilco, again from an old, old game series by Sierra.
So, couple of things: I’m not aimaing towards photorealism texture or model wise. I’m considering of doing the hair whit new particle tools, if I ever get hang of them. I also rig him after I familiarise myself whit new animation tools.
So now it’s your turn. Thanks.
I just noticed, that it’s first time for me to use file attatchment. yay me.
Wow I can’t believe you youngins were into the SQ series. I remember getting SQ:1 The Sarien Encounter way back in 86. I was hooked day 1! I was 14 back then. Well now I’ve dated me hehe. Great model Keep it up! Hey did you know there is a team out there redoing Space Quest? This would be a great start to a remake! YEAH let’s bring SQ back!
Well, I was 6 myself when SQ 1 came out and about eight when we got our first PC. I think almost everyone who had a PC back in the 80’s had some Sierra game (most of them were copies I think).
Yeah, I know the site, but there doesn’t seem to be much of activity in there. I think at this moment only reliable to be released fan game is Ultima 5 Lazarus.
Yay, Roger Wilco! Looks great, but IMO you could try cellshading him.
Btw, anybody actually won a mach in that fighting game in sq6 (at the arcade hall)?
Nah, I won’t be cell doing cell shading on this one, at least not whit the final render. Unless it turns out expectional
And as for the game, you need to cheat, if you want to win. Get bottle of booze to Elmo Bug and he’ll give you the cheat code (ABBACACA if I recall right, just type it whit the action buttons and you’ll get the super strike button)
Again a small modification on Roger. After consideration I thinnered his upper arms more and also moved back his chest and upper back. I’ve also been working on his hands. I’ll put up a larger render of his hands later. Also I’ve been looking at the new rigging tools, and they do look sweet. So maybe I’ll have him rigged for the next post.
HAHA good ole roger, I loved those games. Card games weren’t bad either…
Ahem anyway about the model, looks good. I think since you reworked it the ankles, feet kinda look odd to me, just seem too beefy compared to the rest. Other then that it looks great, more the SQ4-5 roger then the SQ6. SQ6 really killed that game… SQ3-4 were the best.
Oh and thanks very much for the link I’d missed that project, hope they can do it.
Hes kinda looks beefy from the side, and his face looks like he the guy who played Green Goblin on Spiderman. But, there really isn’t any specific way Roger looks.
You are right about the looks Henrymop. There really isn’t a specific look, Roger is just a mockup of every space hero ever created.
I was playing that VGA remake of SQ1 yesterday and in that Roger was litttle bulkier than he usually is. I think he started packing more muscle from the 4th game. fifth gave him The Chin.
Of course the original SQ1 and SQ2 really didn’t have much of in the way of looks, as in those days every Sierra character looked the same whit different colors.
Then he degenerated and in the sixth he became that geeky looking reed everyone is so fondly thinking of
