Roots

Hello guys, I tought i could post this here too. Here is a little project I made in Blender
with a swiss inspired forest environment, mixed with some Stalenhag vibes.

The scene was built in Blender 2.8, using Megascans and Mixer, Graswald, Poliigon.
Rendered in Cycles and post-produced in Photoshop.

CC are welcomes!

Hey thanks, Benji! I’ve heard you are also switching to some sci-fi recently? =P

Hello, thanks!
So yeah i just use the new volume principle shader, which helps a bit.
Then nothing special, playing a bit with the anisotropy to have the desired effect. And render it big enough i would say, in this case 4k, 500 samples.
Mostly that’s it. The image is then quite fine tuned in photoshop giving some more color and contrast :slightly_smiling_face:

hm, okay. strange.
dosent work for me…

which rendersettings do you use?

Yeah indeed  I make scifi animations for stock platforms.

Excellently given atmosphere! It almost makes you feel the chill and moisture in the air! The so discreetly expressed contrast between the natural environment and the mechanical object, also, contributes essentially to the mysterious feel of the scene!

Using light path node to only have volume on camera rays can help a lot.

Great picture !

Will have to check this! do you have some links?

Hey thanks, man! Thanks for your support! Blender master!

Hey thanks for the kind words! Yeah I love this contrast when somehow the machine part isn’t obviously striking against its environment. Or in a different style the kinda “tribal sci-fi” that include also a more subtle relation between elements (like the movie “Arrival”)

Beautiful work. How many lights are you using or is a single directional light enough?

GORGEOUS atmosphere you have going on in that image, amazing - PROPS!

Having all of the accounts, and add-ons you’ve mentioned, I hope I’ll aspire to making images like this one day…
