Hey guys! there is a TV show that I love, called ‘Arrow’, and I am trying to recreate the rope effects from Arrow to put on some scenes for my action short.
I’ve done a quick video with a fast compilation of shots wich has this effect that I am talking about.
- There is a grappling hook arrow
- There is an arrow that twists around someone and catches it
as I showed, and I realized that the rope does 4 things.
1 - the rope is not shown until the arrow is fired
2 - the rope behaves in a cool wavy style
3 - the rope is spreading from the bow (like a tape-measure but really fast)
4 - the rope stretches until the end (after the wave effect)
I’ve tried making cloth simulation + paranting the rope to the arrow head, and making a wave animation on the z axis and a simple location animation on de x or y axis (but is still not quite there)
- the arrow goes forwardly, only the rope has this wave deformation (that is one of the reasons that my attempt failed)
