My girlfriend is an architect, and we’re putting together a new PC for her. She’ll be using Blender for 3D modeling and architectural visualization, including rendering with Cycles.
This is the proposed build:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X
CPU cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX
RAM: KLEVV FIT V 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12GB Shadow 3X
SSD: Kingston KC3000 1TB NVMe (SKC3000S/1024)
PSU: Considering either MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 750W or Seasonic CORE GX-750 ATX 3.1
Case: Raijintek Arcadia IV
We’ve already checked local prices, so we’re mainly looking for feedback on compatibility, reliability and Blender performance rather than finding the cheapest parts.
A few things we’d appreciate advice on:
Is the 9700X + RTX 5070 a well-balanced combination for architectural modeling, viewport performance and GPU rendering in Blender?
Which of the two PSUs would you choose?
PCPartPicker also flags that the motherboard needs BIOS F30 or newer for the 9700X. We understand this may require a BIOS update and will confirm support for the exact board revision before assembly.
Would you change anything in this build? Feedback from people using Blender for architectural visualization would be especially helpful.
hi
i think this build is more than enough for architectural visualization , unless you want to not only used for photo renders but to video renders 2 that’s another thing .
i am not An architectural visualization , i do it from time to time , but my build is similar to this and it renders things in a reasonable time for both engines cycle or eevee !
Reason is, that the next generation of CPU’s will be AM5 socket and it’s possible the gen after that may also be. So while the 9700X is an OK CPU (using one myself), in a few years time you may want to update to something way better. As such a better motherboard now, means it’s just a drop in replacement.
Second and with a possible future CPU or GPU or more storage, etc, etc, I’d go a 850W PSU. It’s not enough for a RTX 5090 or whatever comes next at the very top end, but you’ll not be getting one of those anyway. However, it will cover everything from a 5080 down, both now and in the future.
As for general modelling and rendering, it won’t be the fastest, but it will work just fine. As I said, got a 9700X myself (at the moment, will do a drop in replacement at some point) and using a RTX 3080 Ti, which is around the same ballpark as the RTX 5070.
