Save geometry node modifier as shape key?

This should be a built in modifier for Blender.

So I purchased that… getting great results for my use case. Next thing I know there’s no “save as shape key” option for geometry nodes???

Is there a built in modifier similar to the idea of “move vertex on its normal direction by X amount based on weight painting” that I can use to make a shape key? Or a workaround for geomentry node to shape key?

“Displace” mod should do exactly that I think.

If that GN really doesn’t change topology, you should be able to copy the shape from modified object:

  • duplicate the object;
  • add modifier to the duplicate;
  • select the duplicate object, then the original (as Active object);
  • go into Shape Keys > little arrow menu > “Join as Shapes”.

It will copy the shape of the duplicate object as a new shapekey.
