Say welcome to Dallin!

Hi,

I use Blender for a little less than a year, and I wanted to do something less complex, with more fun.
My prob with Blender it’s the animations (they’re too robotic), so I’m doing something new, more cartoon.

So here comes Dallin!

I’d like to know one thing, this model has 55286 verts, is it okay or too much?

I don’t know if I’ll add/change something on it, I don’t even want to add details (for example : pockets)

Thanks for reading!

For animation, edge flow is key for deformation and animation. The body of this character is square to rectangular in design.

Yeah I know it’s square, it’s not a prob for me… For example a new other character (I wanted a fat boy), he’s not square :
I did the eyelid but it’s an “old” render (I don’t use Blender now because I’m using Malwarebytes)

For the animations I use the bones and the keyshape, I’ll check what means edge flow in blender

Here’s a new character, I call him Herbert.

good characters. I think you should change the tank image on the sweater, because sweaters don’t have decals like that.

Thanks Modron.
It’s funny, because I was wondering to keep it or not… I’ll certainly modify one or two things, at this time it’s Herbert that I like the most… The big Johnny (the fat boy) will have glasses.

here’s another character : Monica

For the hair and the skirt, I didn’t use physics (it takes too much time to render, my pc isn’t so powerfull), so I used shape keys and move the hair and skirt in 4 directions and also add wrinkles.
PS : Thanks again to @dirty-stick who helped me with my prob

Another new character : Randy.

I don’t really have a story now, I’ve a little idea of what I’ll do, but I’m just doing characters at this time. Than I’ll need to do an environment. And I hope this story will be cool to follow.
Randy has a big charism, don’t you think? Or it’s maybe too… Stereotyped!

looking good man. if you are having trouble coming up with a story, just consider some already existing ones. almost all stories fit into a standard plot line. for instance the basic storyline of Romeo and Juliet has reappeared over and over, one example being ‘west side story’.

Thanks.

Yeah I have an Idea, I just need to work on it. But actually I’ll work more on the characters, but I don’t really mind if everything isn’t perfect, it’s amateur and I’m all alone. (Except for the voices, I’ll ask to friends/family)

Here’s a new one, it’s Sloane (I like this name, but the name could change too, it’s only a project of animation…)

I won’t add a lot of characters, just 2-3, then I’ll do the environment.

After this one, his name is Jermaine, I’ll create prison guards.
