Scale up multiple pieces of geo?

I’m trying to scale up multiple pieces of geo at the same time, however only piece is scaling up.

  1. May I ask how to scale up multiple pieces of Geo at once?
  2. I’m in Object mode.
  3. I select all the object in the Outliner
  4. Transform Pivot Point is set to Individual Origins

I think this is the answer to the question… I don’t know if I understood it correctly  :slightly_smiling_face:

In Edit mode ? Is every face selected ??
In Object mode ? Is every object selected ??

Hello Okidoki. Hello oo_1942.

  1. In Object mode, I select all the objects I want to scale in the Outliner.

  2. Even if I turn on “Options > Locations,” I only get 1 object scaling up, not all the objects.

  3. Then in “Item > Transform > Scale,” I type in the scale I want.

Normally, Scale operator (S key) scales selection.

That is not related to pivot point used.

Option Affect Only Locations option is there to avoid to scale object and use Scale operator to put distance between objects. You have to turn it off.

If selection does not scale, that may be because scale of object is locked or constrained.

Now, if you are modifying Scale values in Transform panel of sidebar, that are values relative to active object. That is normal that only active object changes.
You have to press Alt, while modifying those values to affect whole selection.
Or you have to use right click menu and do a Copy All to Selected to scale selection, in two steps.

Item = one thing, not all.
Options > Location is not relevant.
You do need Individual Origins turned on.

Press S move the mouse a bit and click mouse or Press enter.
In the pop up adjustment window (bottom left of the 3D window type in the value wanted.

You really need to read the manual and/or go through the basics tutorials. Both available in the Help Menu.

Hello the scale changes are visible. But it only scales 1 object, in the selection, not all the objects in the selection.

In UE, Unity, Maya and Max I can select a bunch of objects and type in a scale value and all the objects scale up at once.

I’m new to Blender, it appears I need to have some sort preference setting already turned on, even if I have Individual Origin turned on.

  1. if select a bunch of objects in the Outliner

  2. and type a scale value to scale a bunch of objects at once.

  3. Only one object scales up after I type in the scale value.

Blender handles multi-object editing, differently.

I missed the word “item” when I wrote my reply. So, I edited it while @Matakani did the correct answer.

In Blender, properties displayed are properties of active object.
During a long period of its history, Blender was not handling multi-object editing.
You had to modify active object and then, copy modification to selection.
Nowadays, by pressing Alt, you can edit the property for the whole selection.

But the most efficient way to scale a selection is to use Scale operator or Scale active tool.

Hello, how do you do these two operations for scaling multiple objects at once? Sorry, I’m new to Blender. May I ask for some clarification with screen grabs?

You can access scale operator by pressing S on your keyboard or through the Object menu in Header of 3D View.
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/interface/window_system/regions.html#header
Object > Transform > Scale

You can enable Scale active tool in toolbar.
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/interface/tool_system.html#toolbar
When it is enabled, a left click on gizmo should trigger the operator.

That is what I did. But only 1 object of the entire select scaled up.

No worries, I’ll just scale up the objects one at a time.

Thank you all for helping.

I’m adding it for others. :slightly_smiling_face:
I didn’t know the difference between the two because I was only using Hot Key - S.

The power of hotkeys… you forget the “manual way” …

  1. I found a solution. Create an “Empty” and make the objects a child of the “Empty.”
  2. Select the “Empty” and use the scale tools; they will all scale together.

:+1: …or this… when you want to use the input field for a “precise” scale… nice that you start to “use” the possibilities of this app…
