I’m currently working on some mechanical principle diagrams for illustrating mechanical problems.
I have four versions. Blue or white background and metal or white material. It shall be used in documentation of some FE-simulations. Therefore I’m not sure if the blue one isn’t too “unserious”. The same thing with the metal. What is your opinion?
Has anybody got any experience on rendering schematic diagrams in blender?
What is it for? I’m not really sure how “serious” it needs to be. I suspect the only way to judge is to see how it looks in the context it will be presented in (on a page in a book or magazine, or on a website, or in a video) and making sure it matches the overall tone of the piece.
They are all lovely though! I’ve mostly been working with cycles/photorealistic shaders, so I have no idea how you got that lovely crisp hand-rendered look.
I think the metal material and blue background really stands out from the others
it would look better without the white border more technical looking, nice job.
@anopheles: It is considered to be used in a bachelor thesis in engineering mechanics. I’m not sure if it will be used though. That look was made by using freestyle render in cycles and overlaying the result with the blueprint. I would share the blend file with you but the upload seems to be broken at the moment.
