This is Endless Journey, a sci fi Bedroom Inside a spaceship.
I made this project about 4 years ago on February 2022 for pawnisher’s infinite journey contest. the project is my first experience with non-destructive modeling and semi-procedural texturing. now the project was not finished in time and i did only the modeling and later on texturing and i have been busy since but finally a week ago i decided to finish it to share it with you, i made a quick setup for the lighting and added a character from daz, made her a hoodie and rendered the final images.
The concept of this render comes from the contest, endless journey, a very long journey inside a spaceship, such journey can become very boring as there is not much to look at, except stars. ( i know they are beautiful but looking at the same scene for years… ) so the idea was that the character enters the room with zero gravity, grabs on to the red handle, activates the gravity from the panel mounted to the wall, takes of her shoes, sits by the window, grabs her tablet, plays a music and then chooses a scenery which will take place on the window, the window turns into a display, displaying whatever is the theme of the song or the character wants to see.
a train ride through a rainy forest, a train ride with cityscape view in lo-fi style, or skyscrapers with neon lights and glowing windows under water like bioshock perhaps and so on.
though, I didn’t have time to finish the project, in fact i only rendered it 3-4 years later. so I’m sharing it with you for free.
Everything You see in the image is included in the files except for the character and background views outside the window.
hey guys, this is a video guide in case you downloaded the files, it will go through every single object and explains some simple features of some of them which are made in a non-destructive way.
Hey guys i just added FBX and USD files in case you don’t work with blender. i mean this is blender forum but still just in case. it’s also easier to take them to unreal and other softwares as well.
This looks amazing i definitely want to do this tutorial and look at the files, want to learn a nondestructive hardsurface! Thank your for your hard work!
thank you too, it makes me happy that you liked the project. one thing though, the video is not exactly a tutorial, it’s more of a guide explaining how certain parametric models work. and as someone much more experienced now I’d say only about 30 percent of the entire project is non-destructive. but still it can be a great start and there are in fact thing you can learn from it.
I admire the detail and use of greebles in the “Space Bedroom.” Additionally, the bloom effect, which provides a subtle glow, has brought the room to life. The views of the city, space, and Earth from a window inspire thoughts about the animated aspects of the 3D work. Lastly, the human element brings life to the room and raises questions about whether she is alone and the size of the structure that surrounds her. Thanks for sharing.
Hello. I downloaded the blend file and the scene is very impressive. However I have a question. I found that I couldn’t enter the edit mode for some objects, like the shoes. The outliner section only shows the collection box and it doesn’t seem to have any mesh objects inside. What are these?
thank you so much.
they are empties, instancing a collection.
to access the shoes or other instances in the scene, go to the blue collection called Links ( i think that’s the name). you can find all of the objects there. for instance there should be a collection called shoes.high .
if you have any other questions or if you are not sure why certain things are the way they are, you can watch the video, the audio quality is a bit low and cuts the words sometimes but the visuals should give you an overall understanding.
