Scifi Helmet

Hello !This is my first “serious” Blender project.I sculpted it (it was challenging but fun), then I had to retopologize it (it was A LOT harder than excepted, and I still have a lot of bad geometry). The UV unwrapping has been done (too) quickly, as the most part of the shaders are procedural. I learnt to use RenderLayers and the Compositor especially to achieve the glowing effect of the lights.I see its flaws but I’m proud of it. It’s a good starting point.I don’t like the background that much. Maybe some depth of field would help ?I’d like to have your honest opinion.

Looks like it’s based on Blender Cookie’s course.
You added your own touch which is is great. Everything is well modeled and the materials and rendering are nicely done.
I guess the main thing you could improve is to add more organic (natural) transitions between shapes and parts. Right now everything is layered on top of each other and is a bit flat. You could also add some seams in the big shapes to make them appear made of several pieces, which should add more detail and interest.
Good work!

I’m really feeling the helmet. I like the background as well but do feel that it’s a little sterile looking compared to the battle scarred helmet plus the outfit needs to be separated from the background, but I’m sure you probably planning on outfitting your character with something to bring them into the foreground next. Great work. Keep it up.
