sculpt and dynamic topology don't work as expected.

Hello to everyone,

I’m blender lover. I’m trying to learn how to model a character using the sculpt feature and the dynamic topology. I’m tryng to replicate the steps involved in a specific tutorial. I’m trying to use two versions of blender : 2.66 and 2.76 versions. For example I see that there are differences between blender 2.66 and blender 2.76 concerning the dynamic topology configuration settings located on the panels. I’m having two kinds of problems right now :

  1. when I use blender 2.76 I don’t know how to obtain the same sculpt effect that has used on the tutorial where has been used blender 2.66

  2. when I use blender 2.66 I’m also not able to understand how to reach the same sculpt effect used on the tutorial where has been used blender 2.66

Concerning the point 1)

here you can watch the part of the tutorial that I’m not able to replicate :

and here you can see how I have configured blender 2.76 :

Concerning the point 2)

I don’t know why but when I sculpt the character, the polygons are not distributed homogeneously. You can see the attached pictures to understand what happens to me.

I guess you didn’t test out some of the options.

What does this mean? What am I supposed to be seeing

Why are you using two blender versions, it sounds pretty dumb.

Hi

Is there a reason You don’t use lastest Blender Build…?

If not go for it…

When I see Your picture…A guess would be , make Your Brush much bigger…

This is from the link Richard posted… " when sculpting with Dyntopo , and the snake hook with Collapse Edge , the resulting geometry is completely broken "

If this is the reason…You can try turn collapse edge off or use the grap Brush…But the Grap Brush will only move Your Mesh not make new Topology.

If You can run new Blender get it Sculpt is updated a lot…

I agree about getting the new version of Blender, Dyntopo has received some serious upgrades since then like optimizations and better face distribution.

The version you’re using is from back when Dyntopo was still rough around the edges.
