Seams on a hospital gown

This is probably simple but what would be the best way to texture this, where should I add the seams. I’ve tried a bunch of combinations and none of them quite looked good. I also used the minimize stretch option and tried to move things around myself but it just wont look right. I tried smart uv project but it’s choppy in some spots. I can’t really cover the seams with anything. Is there a usual way to unwrap shirts or something similar to the gown here? (it has an open back like a hospital gown would). Thanks

Think like a tailor.

Clothes are (most of the time) made of several parts with seams. When the tailor draws the template on a piece of fabric, they try to minimize the loss of fabric. That’s not very different from the work of a CG artist who optimizes the use of their texture when they unwrap.

In other words, reproduce the real seams.

For a gown like that, I’d say top of shoulder, around the base of the sleeve, on the under side of the sleeve. (I don’t think there is/should be a seam along the side.)
