Hi everyone!
I’m Ally Lubera, a Nashville-based film composer and orchestrator with a particular love for scoring animation. This January, I’ll be participating in a film scoring fellowship, where I’ll have the opportunity to record an original composition with the 52-piece Hollywood Studio Symphony on the Barbra Streisand Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures Studios.
While the piece doesn’t have to be written to picture, I’d love to use this opportunity to collaborate with an animation director and bring an original story to life through music. I’m hoping to find a completed or nearly completed animated short that’s still in need of a score!
I’M LOOKING FOR…
- Format: A 2–3 minute, preferably 3D animated short. I’m also open to longer films with a self-contained sequence suitable for the 120–180-second recording.
- Story: Character-driven, narrative storytelling with a strong emotional arc. Think whimsical, adventurous, heartfelt, wonder-filled, and cinematic.
- Music: Opportunities for expressive orchestration and memorable themes. While my background also spans folk, jazz, and contemporary music, I’d love to make the most of this ensemble with a score that’s orchestral at its core.
- Dialogue: Minimal or none preferred.
- Production status: Completed or nearing picture lock, with no major editorial changes anticipated. I’ll need a locked cut well ahead of January to allow time for composition and orchestration. Existing sound design would be helpful creatively, but isn’t required!

- An original score composed specifically for your film.
- A live recording with the 52-piece Hollywood Studio Symphony at Sony Pictures Studios.
- Professional audio recordings, mixes and stems.
- A collaborative scoring process, including mockups, feedback, and opportunities for revisions before the recording session.
A bit about me: I hold a master’s in Media Composition from Belmont University. My musical credits include work on Dolly Parton’s upcoming Broadway musical, arrangements for the Nashville Symphony, and original scores for independent films.

THE COLLABORATION: This is a creative collaboration rather than a paid animation commission. I’m hoping to partner with a filmmaker who’s excited to give their story an original, professionally recorded orchestral soundtrack!
USAGE RIGHTS: You’ll retain ownership of your film, and I’ll retain ownership of my music. I’ll provide a complimentary, perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the score with your film, including festivals, distribution, promotion, and commercial releases, with appropriate credit. In return, I’d simply ask for permission to showcase the film or excerpts in my professional portfolio and reel, without using your animation for any unrelated or commercial purposes.
