Seeking Insights on Implementing Convex Hull Frames for Node Organization in Blender

Hello everyone,

I’m intrigued by the potential use of convex hull shapes for organizing nodes in Blender, as discussed in the 2022 Geometry Nodes Workshop. The concept of using non-traditional, organic frames rather than rectangular ones could significantly enhance the visual organization in the node editor.

Here’s a visual representation from the workshop that I found particularly interesting:

- Image shows how convex hull can be used to organize nodes creatively.

Does anyone have more information on this feature’s implementation status? Or perhaps someone here is using a script or a plugin that mimics this functionality? I would greatly appreciate it if you could share any insights, resources, or even your experiences related to this concept.

I’m curious to know how these convex hull frames can be integrated into the current or upcoming versions of Blender, or if there are third-party tools that support this innovative approach to node organization.

Thank you in advance for any assistance or guidance you can provide!

Hello and welcome to the forum !
This is already implemented, this is how Geometry nodes zones are represented :

It’s not something a user can set for a group of nodes, but rather this help represents that all these nodes are part of a loop, either simulation, or the repeat loop.

Using that instead of frames could be interesting indeed, however since this is used for loop it may bring some confusion.

As sozap said there should be some visual change that distinguishes it from zones, but I would welcome convex hull frames
