Seeking Modeler/Animator: Hourly Work for Escape Room. Short Animations; Projection Mapping

Hi everyone!

I’m seeking an experienced modeler/animator to create new animations for an escape room game under construction. We’re a family business that builds high-quality experiences here in Michigan, USA (https://www.decodedetroit.com/).

The initial project is modeling and rigging an animation for a magical hourglass as it empties (image available as an svg as well):

The magical sand should glow and pulse, the level of the sand should be adjustable, and the sand should be visibly flowing from the hourglass and disappearing to the right. Additional details about the animation are available if needed.

I have some experience with Blender and will take care of final rendering, so the deliverable is a rigged, textured, and lit model with appropriate handles to make animations easy. If you can get sufficient image quality in Eevee rather than Cycles, :raised_hands: . I guesstimate that an experienced animator could complete this project in fewer than 5 hours. However, if it takes you longer (and your price/hour is adjusted accordingly), we would still consider working with you. Target completion date is October 14th but is flexible.

If the project is a success, I expect an ongoing relationship with you for an additional 40-80 hours of work over the coming six months including

  • rotating the hourglass upside down
  • filling the hourglass with sand
  • a magical book with pages that fly away
  • projection mapping on elevator doors
  • projection mapping on a moving cabinet
    and others.

All animations are in this warm-toned “realistic” magic style, so please share some of your work that is similar or shows a magical flair.

We have a preference for candidates within driving distance (to see and tweak the projection mapping in person), but are open to all applicants. Projection mapping and color-matching experience (i.e. matching a color on the projection to a real object in the room) is a plus, but not a requirement (we’ll teach you!).

Thanks!
