Selecting an object AND its children

Hello,

This may be something simple, but I haven’t found out how to do it in 2.6
Back in 2.49, it was enough to select and object, then SHIFT-G > Children, and that was it! The parent and its children selected.
Since 2.5, SHIFT-G > Children will deselect the original object. So I would then SHIFT-select the parent in the Outliner panel.
But now in 2.6, even that doesn’t work either.

Is there a simple way of doing this?

For background, I develop a robotics simulator on Blender. The users of the system are not familiar with Blender at all, so I want to simplify this sort of tasks for them.

Thanks in advance,
Gilberto

Shift selecting in the outliner should still work.

But…

it’s possible to have Shift+G behave like 2.49. You need to change the keymap for this.

Go to User Preferences -> Input
Type “select grouped” in the search filter
Go to the ‘Select Grouped’ under Object mode, and enable ‘Extend’

That should do it

Hi Sago,

Thanks, editing the preferences does solve the problem.
However, doing Shift select on the Outliner does not keep the previously selected objects, only the last one. Can this also be configured in the preferences?

All the best,
Gilberto

Works for me in revision 41810.

Just go to graphicall for the latest version
