Selection alternate rings?

The “Select Next Active” feature works well for individual Faces, but how would one Select every-other “ring” in, say, a subdivided cylinder?

You can select all, and then try checker deselect but sometimes it fails. Depends on yr model.

  1. select one edge:
  2. “edge ring select” with ring enabled
  3. checker deselect

  4. “edge ring select” again, with ring disabled

OABTW: along the way I found a (to me) obscure function called “Subdivide Edge Ring(s)” that does exactly what it sounds like. Edit Mode/Edge Menu. Works like a charm.
