Seperating limbs?

How would you go about animating and rigging a person losing a limb? Would the model itself have to be made in separate parts? Or is there a collection of settings i can use to separate my model at a later stage? The idea is something that of the old gory anime’s of the 70’s-80’s.

I would suggest having at least two models one normal (all limbs in tact) and one with a Rigg and model for the separation of the limb animation…

This is an interesting project… will have to try to work on how to do this some time…

Thanks for the reply, i’ve been thinking about it and i’ve got a few ideas to test out. The double model route is interesting, ill experiment with that too.
