Setting latest Blender as default

Hi. Blender files open by default using a previous Blender version. Do you know how I can set Blender 3.2.2 to open .blend files?

I did try the “open with”>Choose another app and then click the box “always use this…” but it does not work. Windows keeps opening my blend files in 3.1

Thank you

In preferences…Make this installation your default…should do it…

It does not work for me…keeps opening 3.1.2

I had the same problem, just rename the old blender.exe file to something like “blender31.exe”.

I am going to assume you use the installer packages.
I find it far better to use the zip package without installing it, just copy the contents of the zip to a file location, in my case a folder for Blender on a secondary drive…
It is a mess to grab a newer version and use the installer, as the previous installer can cause problems…

I just saw @Alexandre_Wolf 's reply pop-up while typing…there you go!

Yes, I use the installer…did not know that was an issue.

I use a free program called FileTypesMan to solve this problem. :slightly_smiling_face:
