Shaping uv layouts

So…Blender can’t import uv layouts from other model, ive been thinking about make selected uv into squares
But UV Squares addon wont work on v2.79, that makes me run of ideas, i dont wanna use unwarpt because makes into big pile of mess.

I’m not familiar with that addon, so I watched a video. Didn’t seem like much to me. Can’t you use follow active quads mapping to do the same thing?

Well, you kind of can. Try using a data transfer modifier to copy UV.

And Data Transfer need matching geometry to work?

Not unless you want to transfer on the basis of topology (but in that case, might as well ctrl L UV maps instead).

I mean, you do need some kind of spatial correspondence. Play with it.
